Funny isn't it??

NDTV was showing about how a few of Mumbai’s beaches are dirty and have mercury and cadmium at dangerously high levels. Dead fishes lying all over the beach making the place difficult to visit, esp for tourists. Juhu is one of the four being spoken of. When a local was asked to comment (I presume he was a local) he made statements which meant “The place isn’t being maintained properly” and “Proper care needs to be taken.”
Oh yeah!! I go to the beach (with family, friends or alone), buy foodstuff there, eat, enjoy the place and in some corner (which is not a garbage dump) throw everything I consider a waste. And what do I expect? Someone else picks that garbage and dumps it at the right place. Why not? I’m the ____ of this place.
Why? Why is it that we do this? I mean, when mothers can take care of teaching their children to keep their house clean why don’t they teach them to keep the outsides clean as well? Why is it ok for a mom if her child throws a chocolate wrapper out of the window of a moving vehicle or anywhere on the road but not if it does the same inside the house? Mom’s so sweetly tell the child not to do so coz that is bad?
Guess I’ll not find an answer to this soon. Never would I be able to answer one Mr. Incredibly Smart where to spit when he questioned me in return to a post that I made on the public forum of my company saying I saw a fellow colleague spit on the road jus before entering the shuttle to office.
When we can catch up with the American slang in no time then why are we not catching up with the other good things as well?
I'd like to blame it on the Government (easy target :)). They don't seem to be taking proper care of our roads, drainages, garbage... and what not ;) Funny isn't it?

CBnM: holiday was great. I'm in the office now :S.

Saakshi: Hey!! Thanks for dropping by.
I never tried telling anyone coz people are intelligent enough to give 'Non of ur business" kind of replies. But do feel sad on seeing such behavior.

There was a "Say Chee" campaign started in Bombay by the municipal corp, but that didnt help either :-(
